Bob Marley fue una persona que predicó siempre la política de “no odio”, y eso puede apreciarse claramente en la letra de varias de sus canciones. Es más, ni siquiera cambió su postura cuando trataron de asesinarlo. Esa personalidad tan sensible lo convirtió rápidamente en un ícono inextinguible.

Renegó del cristianismo para abrazar al movimiento rastafari, mezcla de profecías bíblicas, filosofía naturista y nacionalismo negro, un movimiento político religioso. En lo largo de su vida Robert Nesta Marley fue plasmando su estilo de vida y su filosofía, aquí varias frases celebres hoy son recordadas.

One love–bob marley

"One Love" es una canción de la banda de reggae Bob Marley & The Wailers que fue publicada en el año 1977 dentro del aclamado Lp Exodus, considerado por los especialistas como el trabajo musical mas importante de esta emblemática banda que hizo mundial la cultura de Jamaica.
Editado en un periodo donde la sensación política era una bomba que estaba punto de explotar en esas tierras del Reggae, resulta extraño que en vez de ser un disco cargado de metáforas rebles y crítica al sistema, por parte de esto próceres, sea una selección fina y delicada de piezas pacifistas inundadas de amor y esperanza hacia el mundo y sus ciudadanos. Una de esas piezas destacables de ese gran disco es la famosa "One Love", escrita por Robert Nesta "Bob" Marley, que data del año 1965 cuando a ritmo de Ska los primeros Wailers la editaron en su disco debut titulado The Wailing Wailers.
Pero la canción tomó nueva forma en Diciembre de 1976, época en que Jamaica estaba dividida por las elecciones presidenciales que traía a la palestra de la re-elección a Michael Manley, candidato que había ganado las elecciones en 1972 y que fue apoyado abiertamente por Marley en su propaganda política de ese entonces. Pero en esta oportunidad, y tras tener la experiencia de como ser y hacer de Primer Ministro de la nación, Manley se encontró con un Bob mas popular e influyente entre la gente de su tierra que en esos días de 1972 y que ya no estaba "ni ahí" con las banderas políticas y simplemente se rendía a lo musical en medio de esa tormenta que traían los discursos y propuestas de los partidos People's National Party (que apoyaba Manley) y el Jamaican Labour Party que estaba liderado por "el visionario" Edward Seaga

Bob Marley & The Wailers - Buffalo Soldier

Buffalo Soldiers (Soldados Búfalo) es un apodo, nacido inicialmente para hacer referencia a los miembros del 10º Regimiento de Caballería del Ejército de los Estados Unidos, creado el 21 de septiembre de 1861 en Fort Leavenworth, en el territorio de Kansas.
Al final este término se aplicó a los 9º y 10º Regimientos de Caballería, así como a los 24º y 25º Regimientos de Infantería. Soldados Búfalo del 25º Regimiento de Infantería en 1890.
A pesar de que varios regimientos compuestos por personas afrodescendientes fueron reclutados durante la Guerra de Secesión para combatir encuadrados en los Ejércitos de la Unión para el combate contra los Ejércitos de la Confederación (incluyendo al célebre 54º Regimiento de Infantería de Voluntarios de Massachusetts y las numerosas United States Colored Troops), los Soldados Búfalo fueron reconocidos por el Congreso de los Estados Unidos como los primeros regimientos integrados en el Ejército regular estadounidense compuestos únicamente por gente afroamericana.
El 6 de septiembre de 2005 falleció, a la edad de 111 años, Mark Matthews, que era el último Soldado Búfalo que aún vivía. Fue inhumado en el Cementerio Nacional de Arlington.

I Shot the Sheriff es una canción escrita por el cantautor jamaicano Bob Marley. Fue lanzada por primera vez en el álbum de Bob Marley & The Wailers Burnin' en 1973. La canción narra la historia de un hombre que reconoce haber disparado al sheriff del pueblo, pero niega haber matado a su ayudante.

Eric Clapton realizó una versión de la canción y fue incluida en su álbum de 1974 461 Ocean Boulevard. Posteriormente fue lanzada como el primer sencillo del álbum y alcanzó la primera posición de la Billboard Hot 100.

Además de Eric Clapton, numerosos artistas han realizado versiones de la canción, incluyendo a Voodoo Glow Skulls, Knorkator, We Butter the Bread with Butter y Warren G.
